We are also working to get our google adsense up and running. We will be working on search engine optimization (SEO) also, so the link from us will be a SOLID link, not just one of those crazy "LINKS FROM EVERYWHERE" type you see. We have been reading a lot about Blog traffic and how to increase or "blow-up" the blog traffic, and have some really weird suggestions that have been given to us. Some good advice for anyone to follow is
1. Get well indexed by Google.
2. Ping the big blogosphere engines.
3. Don't just blog, be a blogger.
4. Make it easy to become regular readers.
Google is obviously the most important in today's time even if you don't factor in making a little extra from their google adsense program. Yahoo and MSN are major players, but Google stands out as the leader right now for sure. Focus on getting links from sites that are well indexed. THis will help you with your rating as well.
There are many ways to increase your traffic and we will share any and all we find. You can also write about the most searched terms such as Johnny Depp was supposedly the most searched actor from the Independent Movie search for 2005. And of Mary Kate and Ashley are always a hot topic for the younger crowd, but they seem to have caught a more mature audience as well with some of the stands they took on specific issues, but this will also bring in an audience that may not be very targeted. However, I was once told that any traffic is better than no traffic...
I am sure we all have seen these words in almost every post: key words, key word density, meta tags, meta descriptions, content, sticky, web site optimization, submitting your URL, getting indexed by the search engines, ads, emails, links, directories,yellow pages, portal, blogs, conversation rate, etc., etc.
